After so many debates and deliberations, the South Africa Premier League is back following in the footsteps of top European leagues like the German Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and the Barclays English Premier League. The Covid 19 pandemic had threatened to prematurely end the 2019/20 season and at some point it seemed as the only logical thing to do but the move to cut short the season had huge financial implications and hence the PSL decided to resume the PSL on 11th of August after other leagues successfully completed their leagues. The Nedbank Cup is also going to be concluded and the semi-finals were played on the 8th of August with Bloemfontein Celtic and Mamelodi Sundowns making it to the final after beating Baroka FC and Bidvest Wits respectively.
Kaizer Chiefs fans were the most vocal ones clamouring for the resumption of the PSL because their team was occupying pole position at the time the league was postponed and they actually believe that this is their year to lift the coveted trophy, but Sundowns will have a lot to say about that because they are occupying the second position and are piling the pressure on the Glamour Boys. Orlando Pirates and Supersport have an outside chance of being crowned champions but this is looking like it is going to be a two-horse race between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The other intriguing battle is on the other end of the log as more than half of the teams in the PSL have a realistic chance of being relegated and that was one area of concern because had the league not completed, it was not clear how the relegation issue was going to be handled. Polokwane City, Amazulu and Black Leopards are currently occupying the button three places but the number of points separating these and other teams above them makes it extremely difficult to predict which teams will be relegated.
The league has already resumed with two high profile matches between Sundowns v Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs v Bidvest Wits which all ended in draws, it is important to note that the two PSL matches and the Nedbank Cup semis have actually proved that the PSL can successfully finish this current season because no problems were recorded on all these matches.
Due to the fact that the Covid 19 pandemic is still wreaking havoc in South Africa, supporters will not be allowed in Stadiums due to the restrictions on crowds but the matches can be watched live on SuperSport which is the official broadcaster of the PSL. The giant broadcaster has made an attempt to make these matches exciting by using virtual sound and virtual crowd effects to simulate the atmosphere that traditionally accompanies domestic football.

Betway have launched a brand new promotion called “The Return”, clearly based on the major leagues like English Premier League and Series A returning back to playing after the international lockdown. They are giving away R120 000 in cash prizes and to enter all you need to do is to place bets on Betway, on these leagues.
Simply bet on any LaLiga, SerieA, EPL or Bundesliga match between 20 June to 31 July to enter the draw.
Every day, Betway will choose 1 winner and give them R500. The winner needs to use this R500 in a limited amount of time, or it rolls over to the grand prize pot.
The grand prize consists of:
First Prize of R50 000
Second Prize of R30 000
Third Prize of R20 000
All the winners chosen randomly.
Remember, to stand a chance, you need to enter the draw daily, by placing a bet each day. So it seems like each daily entry adds one more entry to the pot, meaning your chances of winning are increased the more your play.
Hollywoodbets have just launched a brand new betting product called Fantasy League Betting. Along with some of the other betting products they have recently launched (such as Jika Sports), they are really pushing hard to ensure players have plenty to bet on. This one combines playing a fantasy league game with fixed odds betting.
You have the chance to choose and build your own soccer fantasy team from the players taking part in specific games. You are choosing your own fantasy team so you will need to select 11 players.
You then earn points based on these players behaviour in the real game, and the total points are added up after the game week. The more points, the better. Odds are then assigned to the points range you have earned to calculate the total odds for your bet, and then applied to your betslip. You can see below the points odds range example as well as the rules for earning below:
GK: Goalkeeper
DEF: Defender
MF: Midfielder
FOR: Forward
So, for example, if your defender scores a goal, you will earn 8 points, but if it were your midfielder you would earn 5 points.
# | Rule description | GK | DEF | MF | FOR |
1 | For playing up to 60-minutes | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
2 | For playing 60-minutes or more | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
3 | For each goal scored | 8 | 8 | 5 | 5 |
4 | For each goal assist | 5 | 5 | 2 | 1 |
5 | For a clean sheet | 3 | 3 | 1 | 0 |
6 | For every 3 shots saved | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 |
7 | For each penalty saved | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
8 | For each penalty miss | 0 | -2 | -2 | -2 |
9 | For every 3 goals conceded | -1 | -1 | 0 | 0 |
10 | For a yellow card (if no red exists) | -1 | -1 | -1 | -1 |
11 | For a red card | -3 | -3 | -3 | -3 |
12 | For each own goal | -2 | -2 | -2 | -2 |
13 | For every 3 corners won | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 |
14 | For every 3 shots off target | 0 | 0 | -2 | -2 |
15 | For every 3 fouls won | 0 | 0 | 1 | 2 |
16 | For every 3 fouls committed | -1 | -1 | -1 | 0 |
17 | For every 2 offsides provoked | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Points Range | Odds (Including Stake) |
58-67 | 1.78 |
68-77 | 3.82 |
77+ | 8.50 |
You firstly need to have registered with Hollywoodbets and FICA’d your account. You then go to the Hollywoodbets mobile site and scroll down until you see the link for “Fantasy League Betting”, and then click “Play Now”.
Firstly choose a name for your team, and then start building it. There are a few criteria you need to build a team, which are:
• 11 Players
• Up to a maximum of four players from a single team (for example, you may only pick four Arsenal players in your side)
• One goalkeeper
• Three to six defenders
• Two to six midfielders
• One to three forwards
After you have built your team, you need to choose your Captain and Vice-Captain. To do this, click either the “c” fr Captain or the “vc” for Vice Captain, under each player. You need to think carefully here, as the Captain will earn double points (your Vice Captain is there in case your choice for Captain isn’t selected to play in the match). If your team is not built properly, the purple progress bar will still be purple. It turns orange when you are ready to move to the next stage.
Now, scroll down, enter your stake and take a look at your potential winning (total odds). Then click “Bet”
Even though this is a Fantasy League game, it is still based on reality and on real player’s performance. This means, you can use your knowledge of how teams and players perform in real games to help guide your fantasy league betting predictions. If you know that a certain player scores well from the defender position, then you should include them as they can generate high points. If other players often get carded, you should stay away as those can cost you negative points.
Betway have just launched the Betway Build a Bet product. It seems each week Betway South Africa are announcing a new betting product, game or promotion. This is starting to really allow them to break apart from the rest of the betting sites in South Africa and pull ahead.
Firstly you need to make sure you are registered with Betway, and if not, be sure to claim the R25 Betway Free Bet.
Then, log into your account and decide which soccer match you want to build a bet with. Click on the option for more betting markets and you will then be given the full list of all betting markets for that soccer game. At the top you will also see a link saying “Build a Bet”. Click on this. You are now able to go through and choose which betting markets for this soccer match you want to add to your multibet. Most markets are available, including: 1X2, Both teams to score, Over/Under (0.5,1.5,2.5,3.5), Handicap, Which team to score, Odd/Even, Exact Goals, Winning margin, and plenty more…
Once you have chosen which markets you want on the build a bet betslip, click on the Selections tab at the bottom of the page and this will show you all the markets you have chosen. If you are happy with these, then click the green “Add to Betslip” button.
You then need to go to your betslip, enter your stake, and click the “bet now” button.
At this stage, Betway Build a bet is only available for soccer matches, only pre-match and up to a maximum of 10 selections.
It seems like data free has become the new way for betting sites to market. First there was Betway offering data free, and now it’s Supabets. We’re not complaining and hopefully soon all the South Africa betting sites will offer some aspect of betting data free. So, how do you get to bet on Supabets Data free?
We have no idea how long this will last, so ensure you use it as much as you can until it is stopped.
In order to bet data free on Supabets, you need to use their datafree URL which is https://supabets.datafree.co/Home.aspx. This is the only way to ensure you will not be charged for the data. The best way to check, is to go into your phone settings and turn off your mobile data. Once you are on this data free url, you can navigate around and place the bets you want to, and as long as you stay on it, you will not be charged data. If you do navigate somewhere or click on something that will not be datafree, you will be given a warning so that you know and can decide if you want to continue or not.
Supabets have tried to make as much as possible datafree, so at the moment you will be able to do the following data free on Supabets.
Bet on Sport (all sports, both pre-match and live)
Bet on Lucky Numbers (all lotto games)
Bet on Horse Racing (pre-match and live)
No word yet on being able to bet on Jika sports, play live casino games, Betgames, Keno and Mo Fafi. Hopefully as time goes on they will add more and more betting products data free and include other items such as being able to register, deposit and withdraw data free as well. See all SA datafree betting sites, like Hollywoodbets Data Free.
Betway South Africa have launched a fully complete Data free website. The Betway DATA free site means that you will now be able to bet on your favourite games and matches, without using any of your own data. This means the only cost to you will be the cost of your bets/stakes!
You will be able to place bets on all pre-match games and live games (all sports), as well as Esports, without using any of your data. You will also be able to make your Betway Four to Score predictions free as well. This is a great effort by Betway South Africa, and goes to their customer focused approach. You can also make deposits on betway using the data free site if you deposit using bank transfer or vouchers like 1voucher, but debit card, credit card and Ozow payments will require data.
Technically the Betway data free site is available to anyone with a mobile phone. But there are a few qualifying criteria. Firstly, you need to be successfully registered with Betway. You do not need to have any funds in your Betway balance in order to play, but if you try access the data free url from the Betway homepage it will need you to. Simply, go directly to the Betway data free url and it will work. Click here for the data free URL.
One thing to note, is that this data free offering from Betway South Africa, is a limited time offer, so it could expire. So make sure you use it asap. See all SA datafree betting sites, like Hollywoodbets Data Free.
Electronic Soccer has really taken off and one of the main leagues that players are betting on is called the FIFA Battle League. This is like the main league for all FIFA games, and includes the top European clubs. The FIFA Battle league is further broken up into a few sub-leagues, and these are the main European leagues themselves.
We have all the fixtures and predictions for eSports Battle matches on our electronic soccer age. Click the link below
See all eSports Battle League Tips
The Battle Champions League consists of the teams that would normally make up the Champions League if it were being played. It includes teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, PSG, Liverpool etc. It follows the same format as the regular league would, although at this stage there are less than the standard 22 teams participating.
Battle Champions League B is like the Group B for the Champions League.
It consists of teams like Tottenham Hotspurs and Napoli.
The FIFA Battle English premier league is proving to be one of the most popular eSports sub-leagues playing at the moment. Teams playing in this league include Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal. One of the best players at the moment in this league is Nikkitta.
This Russian league consists of teams like Spartak Moscow, Shakhtar and CSKA.
Never say never with the Bundesliga eSports league as it proving to be very popular. There are teams like Bayern Munich, Leipzig, and Borussia.
Given that there are no soccer games being played at the moment, we are getting soccer betting withdrawal symptoms. But, even though there is no real soccer betting, i.e. betting on real soccer games, it doesn’t mean you can’t bet on soccer. Far from it. Very recently, 3 soccer betting products have launched, which are definitely worth looking at. Below we will explain what these are and give you links to find out more information about them.
JIKA sport is a virtual soccer game. You get to watch a quick 6 minute virtual soccer game and bet on quite a few different betting markets. You also get to watch the game as it plays on the betting site you are betting with. The only concern is that watching the game will use some of your data. See our full write up about JIKA sport here.
Electronic (or eSoccer) launched very recently. It is part of the eSports sector, in that players are playing online, on Playstation. Each team nominates a player to play on their behalf and you bet on that actual game. There are plenty of leagues and matches happening every single day. Plus you can bet on the same markets you would normally bet on with real soccer, although not as many. See our full wrote up for Electronic League Betting.
This is a brand new and very interesting betting product. Betradar has taken the historical data for tens of thousands of soccer matches and used their system to make a prediction on exactly how a game will play out (as close as possible to the rel thing) based on all the variables they have. You watch the game on the betting site you are playing with but you don’t see actual players. Instead you see a little ball move around the soccer pitch. See our write up for Simulated Reality League (SRL) here.
