PSL Odds & Betting for 2019/20 Season

The South African Premier League popularly known as the ABSA premiership (due to the fact that ABSA is the main sponsor of the league) is a very popular league in Africa attracting players from several African countries like Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, DRC, Nigeria, Ghana amongst other countries.
Top teams like Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have also gone on to bring on foreign players from Europe and South America , which is proof of how far this league has developed over the years.
The Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates is known worldwide and is actually in the top ten of the world’s most watched derbies, which shows that this league is a force to be reckoned with hence the reason why most punters try their luck on this league.
The ABSA premiership has evolved into becoming one of the most competitive leagues and it is now different from the former times whereby Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns were taking turns to lift the premiership. Nowadays there will be up to six or seven favourites at the beginning of the league and most of the popular giants are struggling.
Before the start of the current season 2019/20 season, a lot was said about Orlando Pirates being the major threat to Mamelodi Sundowns’ title defence but two months later, Orlando Pirates are on a downward spiral and they have struggled to cope with the departure of Mulitin Sredojevic and the overrated Rulani Mokoena is not living up to expectations. Benni Macthy’s Cape Town City have also had a bad start to their season by their standards especially considering the fact that some people considered them to be amongst the leading pack in the PSL.
Kaizer Chiefs are in an unfamiliar position right now based on recent history, they occupy the top spot with 19 points out of a possible 24, it might be too early but surely Kaizer Chiefs must be considered favourites to win the league this season to end their ongoing trophyless spell which dates back to 2014.
Realistically, Kaizer Chiefs, Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns are the hot favourites to win the ABSA premier league due to the fact that they have good squads with depth which means that they can easily cope with player suspensions and injuries unlike other teams in the division. What makes these three teams favourites is the fact that they are well coached with some of the best coaches in Africa. On the other hand Supersport United have made a fair start to their season and even lifted the MTN8 cup but we cannot put them in the same bracket with the likes of Sundowns because their squad is not experienced to handle the championship fight and Kaitano Tembo is not yet a finished article in the technical area.
The main markets people bet on in the PSL are BTTS, Halftime/Fulltime, Double Chance, Correct score, Number of Goals , Halftime result and Top goalscorer.
Sundowns 13/10
Season after season Mamelodi Sundowns have always been title contenders because of their financial muscle which enables them to consistently build high quality teams, even aquiring talented foreign players. There is nothing to suggest that Mamelodi Sundowns will struggle this season because they have started very well and they will be top of the league if they win all their games in hand. The problem that Pitso Mosimane has always highlighted is the fact that at some point the squad suffers fatigue due to their participation in continental competitions but they have enough players to cope as they have always done in the past.
Kaizer Chiefs 5/2
Everthing feels right at Kaizer Chiefs this season and they have started strongly enough to suggest that they might be able to lift the PSL title once again. Their star players like Khama Billiart and Lebohang Manyama are in the form of their lives and so is the rest of the squad. The only problem right now is the injury suffered by their influential goalkeeper and captain Khune but Akpeyi is a very capable replacement between the post.
Longest Odds
Chippa United 1000.1
Chippa United have already fired their coach just 8 games into the season and replaced him with Norman Mapeza who is a Zimbabwean coach. The chances of Chippa United winning the league are next to zero , in fact , there is even doubt that they will survive the relegation battle. It is not clear what the problem is at Chippa because they have an experienced squad within their ranks but results just aren’t coming.
Stellenbosch FC 300.1
Stellenbosch FC have struggled to life in the PSL and they must start picking up points soon in order to cement their place in the premiership because realistically, a successful season fo Stellenbosch is surviving relegation, anything besides that is just a bonus.
