The League Two is the third division of the football league behind the League 1 and the Championship, and it is the fourth highest league in the country overall with the Premier League at the top.
The Football League Two has gone through some changes over the years and it was previously known as Football League Third Division until the name was changed in the 2004–05 season.
It is quite true that the League 2 cannot compare to any division in England in terms of organisation, infrastructure, players and funding and it is every team’s wish to push for a promotion into the Football League 1 which is an upgrade from the league 2. Not sure what to bet on? Try our soccer predictions for today, soccer 13 predictions, or our sure bets.
The league has a total number of 24 clubs who each play a total of 46 league matches in a single season, 23 home matches and 23 away matches against all the teams in the division. The teams will also take part in the FA Cup against teams from other divisions like the Premier League and the Championship. For a single match, three points are awarded for a win, one point is awarded for a draw and no points for a loss.
The league operates on a promotion and relegation basis where top three teams are promoted to the Football League 1 whilst the two bottom placed teams are relegated to the National League. What happens in terms of promotion is that at the end of the season, the top three teams will automatically be promoted to League 1 whilst the fourth team to be promoted will be chosen via play-offs which are played between the fourth up to seventh placed teams. At the end of the season, league positions are determined by points obtained, goal difference and goals scored in that order.
In the 2018/19 season  Lincoln City were crowned champions after finishing the league with the highest number of points and they were automatically promoted into the League 1 together with Bury and MK Dons. Tranmere Rovers was the fourth team to be promoted after a play-off which they won after they had initially finished 6th. Notts County and Yeovil were unfortunately relegated to the National League.
