How to FICA

What is FICA

In a bid to fight financial crimes such as tax evasion, money laundering and terrorist financing activities, the South African government in 2003 introduced the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 38 of 2001 (FICA) which helps in tracking the movement of moneys derived from unlawful activities, thereby curbing money laundering and other criminal activities. The introduction of the FICA law dictates that all South Africa betting sites must identify and validate all customers who open an account with them hence all registered clients from various bookmakers had to provide the FICA documentation (Valid ID Document and Proof of Residence not older than 3 months.) and failure to provide this information will mean that your account has not been fully registered and therefore you cannot participate in betting activities online. This article seeks to reveal how you can FICA your account on various bookmakers in South Africa and what they need.
