The Barclay’s Premier league
is arguably the most popular league in the world and is part of the popular big five which consists of La liga, Serie A, Ligue 1
, Bundesliga and of course the Barclays Premier League.
The EPL boasts of some of the world’s most successful soccer clubs like Manchester United , Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal and these teams have contributed immensely to the growth of the league because they command a huge following worldwide.
A lot has changed in the EPL over the past years and the teams which used to dominate have now been reduced to just to top 6 teams due to the fact that other teams who were struggling are now backed by billionaire sponsors and they are now building title-winning teams owing to their huge financial backing.
A good example of how sponsors have transformed this league can be seen in the case of Manchester City who won back to back titles in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons, the citizens were just a mid table team before 2010 but now they are arguably the best club in the world. Leicester City also benefited immensely from the capable leadership of the late billionaire , Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and went on to list the EPL title against all odds, all this shows that the league is no longer predictable as it used to be and this makes it very exciting.
On the other hand, teams like Manchester United and Arsenal are now a pale shadow of their formerselves. Since the early 1990’s until 2014 when Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United, the red devils were the most succesful club in England lifting trophy after trophy but they have since been overtaken by other teams and they are suddenly not favourites to win the league, a good season for Manchester United is a top four finish. Arsenal are also in a bad state and have suddenly become a Europa league team.
Last season, the title was decided on the last day of the league with Manchester City narrowly edging out a hugely talented Liverpool side which also went on to lift the European Champions League. It was clear for many to see that these two teams (Liverpool and Manchester City) were the absolute favourites to win the league due to the vast gap between them and the chasing pack. What makes Liverpool and Manchester City favourites is the fact that they have managed to keep their squad intact and added a few players to bolster themselves.
Liverpool have made a great start to the current 2019/20 season , winning all of their first 8 matches and getting a perfect 24 points in the process, this makes Liverpool the odds on favourites to win the title but history has proven that it is too early to crown a team champions in October as there are still 30 matches more to be played. Manchester City are a distant second with 16 points, and have already been beaten by Wolves and Norwich City which now puts them in a difficult situation, but if there is any team to overturn an 8 point deficit, that team has to be Manchester City because they were in a similar position last season and they finished top.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester City complete the top 5 at the moment, but surely all these teams reasonable target should be a top four finish rather than lifting the title. The main markets people look at in this league are 3 way odds, BTTS, Halftime/Fulltime, Handicap, Double Chance, Correct score, Number of Goals , Halftime result , Top goalscorer and you can see our EPL Tips
Liverpool FC 1.67
The balance in this team makes them the team to beat this season and it will take something special to be able to beat them because they are strong in every department from the goalkeeper to the strikeforce. What makes them so dangerous is the fact that they are able to grind results even when they playing badly.
Manchester City 2.30
Even though results have not gone their way so far, losing two matches already against minnows, there is a lot of quality in the Manchester City squad to bounce back and even take the league away from Liverpool. The major concern right now is their defence which is leaking goals and missing the servioces of Laporte and John Stones due to injury.
Newcastle United 3001.00
After losing Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon in the transfer window, it was always clear that Newcastle United were going to struggle this season. The departure of Rafael Benitez was probably the worst thing that could ever happen to a team like Newcastle and the new manager Steve Bruce is struggling to make any impact to this once great team.
Norwich City 3001.00
Norwich City played some good soccer in the championship last season and they have a bright player in the form of Puki , but it seems like they will struggle in the premiership because they do not have enough depth in their squad. They impressively handed Manchester City their first defeat but they have already lost 6 out of 8 matches.
