Betting has been evolving over the years and bookmakers are always on the lookout to try and find new products and features that would enhance the betting industry and give punters a world class betting experience. Useful betting features which have been introduced in the betting industry include cash-out, live streaming, bet builder among other features, but this article seeks to sheds more light on the bet builder feature, explaining how this feature can enhance your betting experience, but first let us define what this ‘bet builder’ feature is all about.
What is Bet Builder?
Bet Builder is a betting feature that allows you to build your own
soccer bet on a number of soccer markets within the same match and then get a price instantly. There is a wide range of betting markets and, as soon as you have added them to your bet, the odds are then automatically calculated. For example, in a match between Real Madrid versus Barcelona, you can choose First Goalscorer, Over 2.5 and NG to create one single bet with the price for the combined selections. It is important to note that the bets created using this feature can also be included in multiples consisting of other Bet Builder bets or a combination of Bet Builder and non-Bet Builder selections but please note that this varies from bookmaker to bookmaker. The good thing about this feature is that you can customise bets based on what you actually believe will happen, rather than the pre-listed options available on site.
Some of the markets used in the Bet Builder feature include:
Match Result (Full Time or Half Time)
Both Teams to Score
Number of Goals Scored
Players to Score
Corners and Cards
How do you use the ‘Build a Bet’ feature on Betway
Betway South Africa has its own ‘Build a Bet’ feature which allows you to create your very own multiple bets for a specific game. The Betway ‘Build a Bet’ feature cannot be used on live events but it is only available on pre-match events.
Please note that you may not use the Cash-Out use feature when you use the ‘Build a Bet’ feature. A valid ‘Build a Bet’ bet must have a minimum of two selections and a maximum of 10 selections.
Unlike other ‘Bet Builders’ offered by other bookmakers where you can combine them into a multibet, ‘Build a Bet’ from Betway cannot be combined with any events and is only available as a single bet.
If it so happens that any selection within the ‘Build a Bet’ culminates in a loss, then the entire ‘Build a Bet’ will be a loss.
In order to build a bet on the Betway website, visit the official site on and log into your account. You need to click on the ‘Soccer’ icon and look for the fixture you want and select ‘More Bets’.
You then need to choose the ‘Build a Bet’ option and add up to 10 outcomes from the available markets. After you have finished, you need to click ‘Add to Betslip’. The betting process is finalised when you click on ‘Bet Now’
How do you use the ‘Build a Bet’ feature on Sportingbet
Sportingbet offers the exciting ‘Build a Bet’ feature which gives you total control of your bet by building your own soccer bet on a variety of soccer markets on the same match. At the moment, this feature is only available for pre-match soccer events, it remains to be seen if this feature will be used on other sports.
Please note that you may not combine your ‘Build a Bet’ in a multibet which automatically means that it is a single bet. A valid ‘Build a Bet’ bet must have a minimum of two selections and a maximum of 8 selections. A ‘Build a Bet’ will be cancelled if a pick within that ‘Build a Bet’ is cancelled, and you will receive your stake back. Please note that the maximum ‘Build a Bet’ stake is R15,000 and the maximum payout is R150,000.
To use the Sportingbet ‘Build a Bet’ you need to click on the ‘Build your bet’ and a Build A Bet interface will be opened. On that interface, you need to then add your selections and click on the ‘add the bet’ when you have decided on the bet.

How do you use the ‘Same Match Bet Builder’ feature on Hollywoodbets
Hollywoodbets is another bookmaker which offers the ‘Build a Bet’ feature but they have named it differently as they call it the ‘
Same Match Bet Builder‘ but the idea is basically the same with the ‘Build a Bet’ being offered by Sportingbet and Betway. Valid ‘Same Match Betbuilder’ bets are decided in regulation time, so the result of the 90 minutes of football is the one which is considered. Please note that at the moment, this feature is only available on the Hollywoodbets Mobile Site.
Below are some of the terms and conditions for ‘Same Match Bet Builder’
If any individual selection is void, or a player in the bet does not take any part in the match, then the whole bet will be made void.
If a match is abandoned, any bets where the outcome has already been decided e.g. half-time result or first team to score will stand.
All other bets will be made void regardless of the score-line at the time of abandonment.
Abandoned games will be deemed to be games which do not reach their natural conclusion by midnight local time. Games, where a referee removes the players from the field of play for a temporary period but resumes the remaining minutes of play by midnight local time, will not be deemed as abandoned.
In order to bet using the ‘Same Match Bet Builder’ ,you must log into your Hollywoodbets account and click on ‘Same Match Bet Builder’ on the main menu. You will notice that Football is your only option since this feature is only used on football, click on ”Football’ and proceed by choosing the soccer league and the match you want to bet on.
Select the markets you want to incorporate into your bet from a wide range of betting markets and click on ‘Add Selection’ to add a bet to your list. When you’re done adding bets, click the green Add To Betslip button. Go to your betslip, enter your stake and click Submit.

What is FICA
In a bid to fight financial crimes such as tax evasion, money laundering and terrorist financing activities, the South African government in 2003 introduced the
Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 38 of 2001 (FICA) which helps in tracking the movement of moneys derived from unlawful activities, thereby curbing money laundering and other criminal activities. The introduction of the FICA law dictates that all South Africa betting sites must identify and validate all customers who open an account with them hence all registered clients from various bookmakers had to provide the FICA documentation (Valid ID Document and Proof of Residence not older than 3 months.) and failure to provide this information will mean that your account has not been fully registered and therefore you cannot participate in betting activities online. After so many debates and deliberations, the South Africa Premier League is back following in the footsteps of top European leagues like the German Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and the Barclays English Premier League. The Covid 19 pandemic had threatened to prematurely end the 2019/20 season and at some point it seemed as the only logical thing to do but the move to cut short the season had huge financial implications and hence the PSL decided to resume the PSL on 11th of August after other leagues successfully completed their leagues. The Nedbank Cup is also going to be concluded and the semi-finals were played on the 8th of August with Bloemfontein Celtic and Mamelodi Sundowns making it to the final after beating Baroka FC and Bidvest Wits respectively.
Kaizer Chiefs fans were the most vocal ones clamouring for the resumption of the PSL because their team was occupying pole position at the time the league was postponed and they actually believe that this is their year to lift the coveted trophy, but Sundowns will have a lot to say about that because they are occupying the second position and are piling the pressure on the Glamour Boys. Orlando Pirates and Supersport have an outside chance of being crowned champions but this is looking like it is going to be a two-horse race between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The other intriguing battle is on the other end of the log as more than half of the teams in the PSL have a realistic chance of being relegated and that was one area of concern because had the league not completed, it was not clear how the relegation issue was going to be handled. Polokwane City, Amazulu and Black Leopards are currently occupying the button three places but the number of points separating these and other teams above them makes it extremely difficult to predict which teams will be relegated.
The league has already resumed with two high profile matches between Sundowns v Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs v Bidvest Wits which all ended in draws, it is important to note that the two PSL matches and the Nedbank Cup semis have actually proved that the PSL can successfully finish this current season because no problems were recorded on all these matches.
Due to the fact that the Covid 19 pandemic is still wreaking havoc in South Africa, supporters will not be allowed in Stadiums due to the restrictions on crowds but the matches can be watched live on SuperSport which is the official broadcaster of the PSL. The giant broadcaster has made an attempt to make these matches exciting by using virtual sound and virtual crowd effects to simulate the atmosphere that traditionally accompanies domestic football.
